Above is the project plan that our teacher had created

Week 1

  • This week, we started discussing the groups for our project as well as start on the preliminary research. We also finished the brief for it. [for reflection: we had a difficult time selecting people for our group as some were absent and we had to decide our teammates by the end of the lesson
  • In this week, we were introduced to media ecology, which is about how the media affects the human environment.
Week 2

  • Our teacher was absent for some of the days this week, so during those days, I finished up my preliminary research and started planning on me and my team's target audience for the music video. In addition, we made a list of song choices and finally decided on Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish.
Week 3

    • In this week, we mostly did lessons on media regulation and ownership. For the project, we continued and finalized our preliminary research and started on the research into our genre. All of this will be submitted on next week Monday.
    Week 4

      • In this week, we started on our statement of intent and learned about the Theory of Stardom, made by Richard Dyer, where it states that celebrities are made to represent 'real people' experiencing real emotions in order to relate to audiences and sell products such as films or music. We applied this theory onto our statement of intent, to make our artists. However, I wasn't present on the day where we had to fill in a table about theory of stardom, so I decided to just do it on my own free time in order to catch up. I found this to be very useful for our project as it helped me track down the things that I should do to create a persona for my artists.
      Week 5

        • This week, we finalized our statement of intent and started on our moodboard, storyboard, as well as planned out our scenes on a lyric sheet. We spent about 20 minutes each and finished with the moodboard. Moreover, we also had lessons about media regulation and ownership. These lessons has really helped me understand how media companies and government regulate the content they distribute to the audience. I will keep this in mind while continuing with the project. Additionally, we continued and finalized our preliminary research and started on the research into our genre. All of this will be submitted on next week Monday. Some difficulties that me and my team faced was that it took us quite a long time to think of ideas to put and whether it matched with our theme. However, we overcame this problem by brainstorming everything as well as discussing it in our whatsapp group. In the end, it was easier this way as we got to communicate outside school hours too, making it more efficient.
        Week 6

          • This week was entirely project lessons. I honestly really liked how this entire week of media is just project lessons as I find theory lessons very boring. I enjoyed making the storyboard, as well as planning our star persona. However, I did have some difficulties trying to juggle between several tasks at once since the due date for all of this is on week 7, especially since there has been loads of exams. I do think that it's a part of my fault for not managing my time that well. I have improved a lot since the past though, because I used to only start working on my part a week before, for this, I did everything step by step, still not good enough though. In order to improve my time management, I made a to-do list on my notes app as well as created a little schedule for me to look at after school so that I don't lose track of my tasks.

          Reflection
I enjoyed writing this weekly progress and plan as it helps me keep track of my progress and reminds me of things I need to do and what to improve for next time. The difficulties I faced when doing this was that I was sometimes inconsistent where the recap for that week may be shorter compared to others, especially on weeks where I feel overwhelmed with tasks. Moreover, I had a hard time trying to prioritize which tasks I should do first as well as managing my time to do those tasks. For next time, I do think that I should set more realistic goals instead of just shoving everything's finish goal to be on one single date. I should do them one by one instead of procrastinating too. I would also want to reward myself with something small every time i finish a task so that I stay motivated and don't get burnt out. Overall, making this weekly progress and plan was time consuming but it helped me stay on track with my tasks.
